# PromptIt — Full Reference > PromptIt is a free AI prompt enhancer. It scores your prompt, detects missing elements, and rewrites it so your AI gives you what you actually asked for. Available as a web app at promptitin.com and as a Chrome extension inside ChatGPT and Claude.ai. --- ## The Problem PromptIt Solves When users get bad results from ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, the root cause is almost always the prompt — not the AI. Most prompts are missing one or more of five essential elements: 1. **Role** — Who should the AI act as? Without a role, the AI defaults to a generic assistant. 2. **Context** — What is the background? Without context, the AI makes assumptions. 3. **Task** — What exactly needs to be done? The only element most people include. 4. **Constraints** — What are the rules, limits, and things to avoid?
